This is a new version, G4.0.5.1, that I now am being asked to install every time I launch Waterfox, but why None of the new and improved features listed in the release notes solve any problems that I need to have solved, or improve anything that, in my opinion, needs improving, as I have had no problems whatsoever with the page tabs (for example), so I do not understand why these improvements are even needed.
The costumization functionality of Waterfox is yet to be made available through the Mozilla Sync subsystem of the FF software, but some of the settings, when saved through mozilla sync will make their way to your profile through the web setup menu. Until that functionality is added to the Sync function of mozilla FF, the easiest way to save your Waterfox settings are to use the settings manager under Tools.
This version has some very nice improvements. It has a much improved installer that creates a launchers that opens in ms-office, integrates very well with the FF menu bar. New additions are a new theme called “classic”, the new look for the floating “addresses” menu, the new “Sidebar” which is a 2 column panel that has a lot of options (a quick link plugin, quick access to different plugins, enables and disables add-ons. the search bar and the new search panel for finding what you are looking for, fullscreen mode, quick links, live tiles and general prefs. New Quick links panel with a quick link button and a folder button to save hot-linked pages in a folder of your choice. And the sidebar is a great place to find a lot of preferences to customize your browser with just a couple of mouse clicks. New options for the add-ons, enable and disable each add-on. Ability to uninstall add-ons or an entire profile. A program-start notifier so when a website wants to run a program just set its icon to activate the browser instead of being forced to run it from the programm. Screen-off password manager with a sync interface that works from a menu in the settings to set up. And the list is endless. There’s a lot to talk about and I’m sure you can find a lot more useful things to add on to your waterfox profile. The thing about Waterfox is that it’s well thought of and very friendly to use and add-ons is just another way to customize the product. I always look forward to new versions of waterfox and the new versions are just better than the ones before (and waterfox is an improvement to other browsers).
